Like many people, I have an artificial Christmas Tree. I’ve had it for several years and, it’s never looked as good as the picture on the box. No matter how I move the branches around, there are always bare sections where I can see all the way through the tree. Decorations will cover most of the holes but, they never cover all of them.
So, I decided to do something about it. How? Well, I had a few extra rolls of garland in my decoration box and started using it to fill out my Christmas Tree. Garland? Yes, garland. With a few rolls of extra garland, I found that I could fill in the gaps and, after the decorations are on the tree, it is practically invisible.
It is fairly simple to do. I generally wrap the garland around the tree and run it between the branches. The closer to the center or backside of the tree, the better. As long as the garland is roughly the same color of green as the tree, it blends in.
For artificial trees that break apart into sections for storage, you can even wrap the garland into the individual sections as you assemble it. That way, you don’’t need to remove all the garland before taking the tree apart for storage. Once the tree is assembled, put garland into any remaining gaps and those will be the only pieces you might need to remove before disassembling the tree.
As you can see in the pictures below, there is a big difference. On the left is my plain tree. On the right, the same tree with garland wrapped within the tree.
